Hey Besties. Everyone still Good? We are still safe at home here in Virginia and hoping that things can safely open up a little bit in the next few days. We are working to stay safe but hoping that we can maybe see some friends soon.
It's the last Wednesday of the month and I am linking up with Shay and Sheaffer for What's Up Wednesday. Settle in to find out what we have been up to this month. We have been up to more than one would think consider we cannot do anywhere.
What We're Eating This Week
Monday-Grilled chicken sausage, salad and steamed corn
Tuesday-Take out tacos
Wednesday-Taco meatballs, black beans, salad
Thursday-Maybe lobster mac n cheese
Friday-Pizza night
What I am Reminiscing About
With "graduation" coming up this week I am having all the feels and all the memories of Hockey Guy being at school. Unless he becomes a Jesuit or a brain surgeon, this will be the longest he goes to school anywhere. Our decision to send him to this school is one of the Best decisions we have ever made, not only for Hockey Guy but for our entire family.
This song is truly sums up my feelings lately. All three of us have been changed for Good.
What I'm Loving
I am loving Youthful Serum from Ever. This serum has really changed my skin for the Better. I have super sensitive skin and this serum has not made me break out or irritated my skin. My skin tone is totally even, my skin is smooth and my makeup goes on like a dream.
I am also loving the hostas in my yard. I never think much about hostas and usually think of them as filler that we all need to have in our garden. The cool, yet spring this year has really made the hostas flourish. Mine, and my neighbors hostas, just look amazing this year and I am appreciating them so much more this year. They are actually bringing me a lot of Joy.
I am totally late to the Teleties party but I totally get what all of the fuss is about. Since I don't have very thick hair, I chose the small size. These hold my hair without any breakage.
What We've Been Up To
Honestly, we have been up to a ton of yard work. Typically on the weekends we would be driving all over the Northern Virginia area for lacrosse games. Since that is not possible this year, we are putting our efforts into the yard. We have been digging out dead bushes, planting spring bulbs, edging and I have hopefully found a Good solution for a very wet area of our side yard. Fingers crossed.
We are also sprinting towards the end of the school year this week and the end of Hockey Guy's time at school. Making sure everything is turned in and that we are ready to go.
We also took a safe drive this weekend to Lake Anna, VA to check it out. We drove around the lake and just got a sense of the area in case we want to add this to our safe get aways this year.
I also became a Stella & Dot brand ambassador this month. I am excited to be working with the Stella & Dot family of brands that includes jewelry, clothing, accessories and clean beauty. Their summer launch is just beautiful! Check it out here.
What I am Dreading
Honestly, now that almost all of the weeks are gone from my yard, which has been the thing I have listed as what I am dreading the last couple of months, I am not really dreading anything right now. Just trying to live day to day and stay as positive as possible.
What I am Working On
I am working on keeping our calendar updated because we have a bunch of virtual things for school and also things like book return.
I am still working hard on our yard and am so hopeful that is everything I have planted comes up in our yard, it will be beautiful this summer.
Speaking of our house, I am working on a to do list of a few more house projects that we have not had time to do due to our sports schedule over the last few years. This week I moved around the contents of some cabinets to help make the flow of our kitchen make more sense. It felt really Good to have this done...but Running Daddy and I are still trying to get use to where the coffee mugs and coffee are now located. We both keep naturally going over to where they use to be located.
What I am Excited About
While I have so many different emotions about this day, I am excited for Hockey Guy's graduation--whatever it may look like. There are different options currently on the table depending on what the state and diocese officials say we can do. I know whatever decision is made it will be the Best for all.
Hockey Guy has worked really hard especially in his middle school years and got into his top choice for high school. He is so ready for his next step and we are excited for him.
What I'm Watching/Reading
With all of the school work and work work, I am not really reading anything. I did sit down on Memorial Day and actually read Southern Living...so there's that.
Like a lot of families, we are watching a lot. Here is what we have been watching over the last month:
The Last Dance
Even though we are not a basketball family, this was amazing. ESPN does such high quality programming and this profile on Michael Jordan is no exception. I love the business of sports and am totally fascinated on what goes down behind the scenes.
Lance
Speaking of high quality programming from ESPN...Lance. I read his book, I cheered him on and was super ticked off when he admitted he doped. For me, it wasn't even about the cheating and the doping, it was the way he categorically tried to mercilessly destroy people for years who tried to tell the truth about him. Yet I cannot turn away.
It is interesting to see this through Hockey Guy's eyes. He actually didn't know about the cancer.
Is anyone else watching this?
Million Dollar Listing LA
We are finally caught up on our binge watch of Million Dollar Listing LA just in time for the new season to premier.
Housewives!
I am so happy that both Beverly Hills and New York Housewives are on right now. My housewives are always there when I need them.
A special treat on Friday was that Bravo ran the entire season of the Real Housewives of DC. We set our DVR and watched it with Hockey Guy. He was totally amused by these women and has a special distaste for the Salahis--like we all do. I kind of missed when the Housewives were a little more simple and not always fighting.
What I am Listening to
We are listening to a lot of Yacht Rock when we are in Running Daddy's truck. I am listening to Faith Hill radio on Pandora while I work. It's the perfect mix of country and Jesus music that I need during my day.
What I'm Wearing
In late March and early April I started to get dressed every day and document on Instagram and Facebook. It was a way to help me get little control over my day and define one day from another. What this became was a little bit of a movement called the Get Dress Challenge. Through this challenge over two dozen women have shared their outfits and their days. They are doctors, fitness instructors, moms, businesswomen and nurses. They literally live from coast to coast, and north to south. I am proud to call them my friends and it bring me Joy to see what they wear every day. These women are so beautiful. So if you really want to see what I am wearing and these beautiful women, check out the Get Dressed Challenge.
Here are a few outfit highlights in the meantime.

What I'm Doing This Weekend
We will be doing more yard work. Our part of the state may be opening up a little bit this weekend so we may be able to safely go out and get a few large bushes for the front of our house.
What I am Looking Forward to Next Month
The main thing I am looking forward to is Hockey Guy graduation from his school after eight years. Whatever graduation ends up looking like, we are so proud of him and cannot wait to celebrate him next month.
What Else is New
Join Holly and me tomorrow for our monthly link up Monthly Musings! This month we are talking all things summer food. Feel free to join us as a blogger or reader or both!
Here are the questions this month.
I have been loving all the yard work this spring too! Isn't it nice to have time to do it. And hostas are a favourite of mine. The variety of the leaves is what I love. All that colour and it's really just all in the leaves. It's so cool!
ReplyDeleteI think the hostas look so Good around here is that we have had a cool wet spring and I think it has really helped the hostas thrive.
DeleteThank you for taking the time to stop by and read and comment.
