What's Up Wednesday-May 2025

While May was definitely a weird energy month for me, I do feel like it flew by. We had some Good things happen with some big work projects going well, Running Daddy's birthday and Hockey Guy coming home for the summer.  Today I am back for What's Up Wednesday, linking up with Shay and Shaeffer to share a little food, fashion, favorite shows and all of the other Good parts of May. Let's dive in.

What We're Eating This Week

Monday-Grilled chicken with vegetables and leftover corn salad. This Baja Citrus marinade only takes 30 minutes and is amazing. I will be buying this all summer.

Tuesday-Chicken sausage, polenta and salad

Wednesday-This could be a busy night so I think we are going to do pasta with chicken meatballs and salad.

Thursday-Build your own taco with salad. I am going for a taco bowl.

Friday-We have wine club pickup so we will bring some food to that. I have not really figured it out yet.

What I am Reminiscing About

This time last year we were in full graduation mode. I can't believe how far Hockey Guy has come in a year. He fulfilled his dream of making a college hockey team, worked his tail off in his classes and has made some really Good friends.

What I'm Loving

Have you tried Banza pasta? It is made with chickpeas and is gluten-free. Running Daddy and I are loving this pasta. On busy  nights we do a few Butcher Box meatballs some sauce and the Banza pasta and we have great meal.

This pasta has simple ingredients and is higher in protein and lower in carbs. The main thing is to not overcook it. I cook it for the minimum amount of time on the box. It also comes in some very fun shapes.

I also love this cotton gauze reversible blanket from Better Homes & Gardens that I got to lighten up our warm weather bedding. This blanket is super soft and the perfect weight for summer. I chose the blue silver/arctic white combo.

I folded it down over the comforter in the photo above.

The Best part, it's under $30. If you need to lighten up for bedding for summer, or refresh a guestroom, this is a great option.

What We've Been Up To

In May, I had a really big work event that thankfully went really well. I also worked on an unexpected project this month that I just finished up this weekend and now go into another three-week project that I do every June.

Hockey Guy came home for the summer a few weeks ago and it is so Good to have him home.  I am running the dishwasher a lot and we are going through a lot of food, but it is Good to have his energy back in the house.

What I'm Dreading

I am taking Stormy for a second opinion at a new vet this week. He's mostly fine but had something removed from his face last summer and two vets at the same practice that we are at are giving me very mixed messaging on this. I just need someone rational to tell me if this is something we need to worry about. His energy level is amazing, he seems happy and very healthy but he is also 10 years old.

Frankly, I totally dread him getting older.

What I'm Working On

In addition to the work projects I mentioned, I am also working on getting my plants in our outdoor planters. We have had so much rain on the weekends lately that I am pretty late getting my planters ready to go. I did make some progress this weekend.

I am also working on my consistency in attending Barre3. Right now I am only getting there once per week, but I am getting there every week. I went Saturday and Monday of the long weekend. When I am going to Barre3 consistently, many things in my life run a lot Better

What I'm Excited About

Right now I am excited about a real summer. We had all of the graduation fun last year and the anticipation of college orientation, dorm shopping and move-in. This year I am looking forward to a real summer vacation and all of the general fun summer has to offer.

What I'm Watching/Reading

I did binge two shows in May. I watched The Four Seasons on Netflix which I liked. It was a Good option for a chill watch after my big work event.

This is a few years old but we didn't have Apple TV until last year. I finally watched The Last Thing He Told Me with Jennifer Garner. This is my kind of show. I really enjoyed it.

Real Housewives of Atlanta

Oh Atlanta Housewives, we took a break for a while and now we are back together and happier than ever. This is our fun for the week, every week. We are obsessed...obsessed with Shamea and her HVAC money. That house is amazing.

What I'm Listening To

I am listening to all of the Bravo podcasts especially my ladies of Bitch Sesh and Two Judgey Girls

When I need to be centered, I am very into the song "I Speak Jesus". If you need it, I have linked it for you.

What I'm Wearing

I needed to level up my spring/summer wardrobe lately. Here is what I added lately.

I love these Draper James x Jack Rogers magnolia sandals. They are the perfect neutral with a touch of whimsy. Super sale price right now.

I carry a big tote to work but like to carry something smaller on the weekends. I grabbed this Mini Coastal Prep Tote from Old Navy. It's a great size and has a mini pocket on the inside and a snap to help keep things closed. It is under $15 so it is the perfect summer weekend bag.

I also needed to replace my black work pants, so as I have for years and years, I ordered a pair of Loft Riviera pants. They always fit me and I have trouble with pants because while I am only 5 ft 5 inches, my torso is kinda long.

Speaking of Draper James, I also grabbed this embroidered tee  in navy from Draper James. It is perfect with white jeans.

What I'm Doing This Weekend

Friday night we have wine pickup for our wine club and I am really looking forward to being out at the winery. We had such a Good time at the one in early March.

I am also already booked for Barre3 for Saturday and may also go on Sunday too. Not sure what the rest of the weekend holds.

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month

The biggest thing for us in June is our 20th anniversary. I know that we are going out to dinner. We have some tentative plans to continue to celebrate later in the year but we are still working on those details.

What Else is New

I think I covered everything for May. I hope you will join Holly and me tomorrow for Monthly Musings. We are Kicking Off Summer in May and we would love to have you join us.

See you back here tomorrow!

  2. Oh I had to laugh at the going through a lot of food comment! I feel like I have been living at the grocery store lately. Keeping this house stocked with 3 boys ages 17-21 is so difficult (and expensive!).

  3. I feel you on the dreading your pup getting older. I've been crying to Nash since he was about 6 months old (he's 8 now) about him getting older & how he's going to destroy me one day.
