We are at the end of September and it is finally feeling a tiny bit like fall this week. We had a bunch of rain come through and it brought cooler air with it. This time of year, I don't mind a rainy day that brings a drop in temperatures especially when the trees have a slight hint of color to them. With fall basically around the corner, the topics for September Monthly Musings are the perfect fit. This month we have all the autumn food, baking, decorating and fun.

1. Pumpkin or apple pie?
I am personally not much of a pie person and being gluten free, it's hard to find a Good pie I am able to eat. If I have to choose one, I would choose pumpkin, although I would rather have something like a gluten free pumpkin roll.
2. Favorite fall recipe--please share
In the fall, I am all about winter squash. I love it all and these are some of my favorite recipes.
This is tied for my favorite soup recipe. You can find my Butternut Squash and Pear Soup here.
Try my zippy rosemary squash here if you crave an easy squash side dish. You can swap out squash for sweet potato if you are more of a sweet potato person or to change things up.
If you need a comforting fall entree, then the chicken with butternut squash, cranberries and wild rice bake found here is a perfect option.
3. Do you decorate for fall? Inside? Outside? Both?
My goal is to always decorate inside and outside. Some years that does not happen. My plan is to start decorating for fall this weekend and then get things cleaned up outside to add in some mums and other fall fun.
4. Pumpkin spice latte or apple cider?
I love them both. Running Daddy and I had our first pumpkin spice latte Labor Day weekend. I have not bought any cider yet but hoping the farmer's market has some soon.
I love to have our home smell like fall. I am a big fan of Mrs. Meyers and have always loved the Yankee Candle Macintosh scent.

7. Name a fall food that people love that you don't?
This was an easy one for me. I am looking at you Brussels sprouts. I don't care that people make them with bacon. It's not that I haven't tried "your Brussels sprouts" yet. I don't like them and I need the Brussels sprouts mafia to leave me alone about them.
8. Candy corn...Yes! or Blech!
I don't mind a little candy corn or autumn mix every now and then. I know this is going to be an unpopular opinion.
9. When do you decorate for Halloween of you do?
Typically I don't decorate for Halloween until October 1. Since I didn't pull our fall decor box out until this week, I may just add in the Halloween decor as well this weekend.
Much to Running Daddy's amusement, fall decor and Halloween decor are two completely different things and requite two separate storage totes.
10. If you decorate for fall outside, do you use mums, pumpkins, other fun things? Give me all your inspiration.
I am looking for some inspiration from the other writers on this one. I typically try mums but they don't last. Running Daddy handles all of the Halloween decorations.

I didn't mention not liking Brussel sprouts but I don't like them either. Your fall recipes sound and look good- I will check those out. That's cool that your husband handles Halloween decorations. My husband leaves all the decor to me- I do have more time than he does and I don't mind it at all. Thanks for the link up!
