I hope everyone had a Good long weekend. We were able to spend some time with friends and also make really wonderful dinners. This Labor Day was just what I needed. I am back today to join Joyce for Wednesday Hodgepodge for some early fall questions.
1. ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL? On a scale of 1-10 how much of a fan are you? (10 is never miss a game and 1 is I'm just here for the snacks). Who's your team? If you're playing along today, but live outside the US feel free to sub your feelings about futbol for the more American sport of football.
I would say on football in general, I am about a 3 on the scale of a fan. Since Hockey Guy is now going to a big football school I am probably an 8 for his college team. Running Daddy and I watch every game and now love College Game Day. I personally have a lot to say about their former coach, especially this week.
2. What's something you currently have a game plan for managing?
I have a game plan for meal planning. Even though it is just Running Daddy and me at home right now, I still draft a dinner plan every Sunday to make my nights easier.
3. Do you like chicken wings? Hot, mild, or some other flavor? What's a must have food for you on a tailgate menu? I know tailgating isn't as big of a thing outside the US of A as it is inside the US of A, but you can also answer the question this way-what's a must have food for you at a sporting event viewing party?
I like a chicken wing every now and then, but I don't order them often because I find them messy. They can also be a gamble on if they are gluten free or not. If I do have them, I am a medium gal.
For tailgating menus, what Running Daddy and I have been doing the last couple of years is try to make a meal around the team or location that our college team is playing. We might do barbeque for Arkansas, jambalaya for LSU and fun seafood for Florida.
4. Teams typically have strict playbooks they follow. What is one unwritten rule or piece of advice in your 'life playbook' you think everyone should know?
My Best piece of advice is that "almost everything is fixable." There are some things in life that are not fixable sometimes but most things are fixable. This is something that I have always told Hockey Guy and I often remind myself of this on a bad day.
5. This is the week we remember and mourn all that was lost and changed on September 11, 2001. I always include a spot for bloggers to share anything they'd like to share about 9/11. Share as much or as little as you like.
On September 11, 2001 I was actually on a professional exchange trip to Malaysia and Singapore which made things rather interesting to be in a foreign country on the other side of the world. Since we were in Singapore the day after the attack, the government officials we met with were very kind to me. I remember the Minister of Health holding my hands and telling me how sorry he was with tears in his eyes.
It was also a little interesting to try to fly back due to the fact that I was the only attendee from Washington, DC since they closed National Airport for a month right before I flew back. It is a long story, but I did get myself back home with very few delays by flying into another airport. I learned that I could get through anything even when I was abroad by myself during an international crisis.
One thing I try to not to dwell on too much is that if I had not been abroad and it had been a regular Tuesday and Congress was in session, I would have been in the Capitol that morning for a regular meeting. It was cancelled that day and I was not even in the country.
Incidents like September 11th and January 6th hit me a little harder because I live and work in Washington, DC. Not an attempt to get political here, but these things impact me on another level because I have worked for Members of Congress, have friends that still work on the Hill and I have worked closely with the US Capitol Police.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
I for one, am not sorry to see this summer go. There was so much heartbreak this summer and I am ready to watch fall movies, drink cider and pumpkin spice coffee and move forward with life.
I am also looking forward to spending more time writing and upgrading this site. I am excited to announce that I just launched my Amazon Store through Amazon Associates. I will also be sharing fashion looks, products I use every day and home design on these boards. You can find it here.
With full disclosure I will make a small profit from any purchases made from the site. This will also be a place were I can easily organize all of the products I share from my posts and also anything else that inspires me. I hope you will check it out. Please feel free to message with any questions.
You can check it out through Amazon or follow me on Instagram through @pcrichey.
Thanks for stopping by. Hope you are having the Best week!
