What We're Eating This Week
We have some travel at the end of the week and I am finishing up a big work project so the dinner plans are a little fluid in the beginning of the week and then a lot of dining out in one of the Best food cities in the USA later in the week. Here's what I can tell you so far:
Monday I was super glad that I put some stew beef with broth and taco seasoning in the slow cooker before I left the house in the morning because I didn't expect to get home so late! I luckily had the meat cooking all day so that we could have easy tacos when I got home.
Tuesday will probably be burgers and dogs with sweet potato puffs along with cucumber, hearts of palm and chickpea salad. I am going to post this salad recipe in July...I promise!
Wednesday will probably be an airport meal as we have a late flight. Then on Thursday and Friday nights we have some ideas of where we want to eat and I will keep you posted on all of these.
What I'm Reminiscing About
The topics for Monthly Musings tomorrow, Vacay, Trips and Adventures, have me thinking about our summer vacations of the past. I wouldn't change any of them and love that we have found our spot in Hilton Head.
What I'm Loving
I have been using the Charlotte Tilbury Magic Serum again and it is such a Good product. It is a higher-priced serum but it really works. I only use it in the morning as I have sensitive skin and that is all I need to refine my pores, smooth my skin and help fine lines.
This month we have two separate college tour trips. We have seen two schools so far and then two more are coming up. They are all different and while it is totally Hockey Guy's decision, all three of us have been on the same page with every school we have looked at. I try to keep my mouth shut until we get in the car and he starts talking and we all end up feeling the same way about each school. This is such a fascinating process from the parent's point of view.
We have all been working really hard in June. Hockey Guy finished strong at school and his hard work paid off. Running Daddy is working hard at work and in the final stages of his Iron Man training. I always have a ton of work in June and have pretty much been working non-stop for the last ten days.
Running Daddy and I also celebrated our 18th wedding anniversary. Sometimes I feel like I don't remember a time when we weren't together but then I remember those years and know that some of those years were not so Good but that it all brought me to where I am now and I am so very grateful.
What I'm Dreading
As I post almost every month I am dreading weeding. We were doing so well and then all of the rain hit last week. While it is helping the flowers it is also encouraging the weeds.
What I'm Working On
I am working hard to keep up with my morning walks. Weather permitting I am trying to walk at least four days per month. I also got back to Barre3 on Sunday and that felt great.
I am also working hard to love on two special families who have received some not-so-great health news. This is my main goal for late June and July.
What I'm Excited About
I am excited about our trip this week to look at other schools and the entire process. What I am learning is that there are a lot of schools out there, and every school is a Good school for someone. I am excited that Hockey Guy is started to form a list of schools he likes.
What I'm Watching/Reading
I am working so much that I am not really reading anything. Getting back into reading is one of the things that I really want to do when Hockey Guy is in college, I will have plenty of time then.
All of my Bravo shows are winding down. Scandoval really heated up for a while and now I am exhausted by it and I would say the same for Real Housewives of New Jersey. No one should be fired, we should make Teresa and Melissa deal with each other like a lot of families do. Sidenote, did anyone else fall a little bit in love with John Fuda when he took on Louie?
Running Daddy and I also started watching the Arnold Schwarzenegger documentary on Netflix. We are only on one episode but it is so Good.
Switching gears it is Christmas in July on the Hallmark networks. Who's excited? This gal!
Looks like an awesome month! Yay to another Bravo fan! I hope neither Melissa or Teresa get fired & we have better drama next season. I was slightly disappointed it wasn't spicy enough haha. Good luck with the college visits! That's exciting and sad all at the same time. Have a great summer! - Morgan @mommyaboveall.com
ReplyDeleteMorgan, I love when Bravo fans drop in! I feel like there are more of us than some admit. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteYeah for your trip! Can't wait to read all about it :) Glad you have some down time in July- enjoy every day!
ReplyDeleteIt is going to be fun. See you tomorrow for Monthly Musings. Crossing fingers that my tech works because we are up and out early tomorrow morning.
DeleteWe have 2 more college visits planned too; my son's choices are much more limited as he's only looking at accredited culinary schools that have baking & pastry art programs. I'm really enjoying the process so far too and funny enough we all seem to be on the same page in terms of ranking the colleges.
ReplyDeleteI am learning that the process is so individualized which really surprised me. Sounds like you are having the same experience. What a cook thing to focus on! Best of luck to your family.
DeleteI love a skort! I am just hearing about the Arnold documentary, so I may have to see what that is all about. I'm excited about Hallmark Christmas in July too! Good luck with the college visits and decision.
ReplyDeleteI so love Christmas in July!
DeleteI bought a couple of Jones New York skorts at BJs last year that I like. I originally bought them because I'd had knee surgery and could not STAND for fabric (like pants or capris) to be rubbing even lightly on the incision site. But out of that necessity, I discovered that I like these skorts for everyday wear. They're comfy, a little longer than average, and reasonably priced so I may try to pick up another pair or two in other colors and slightly differen styles. I'm late in commenting on WUW posts but I hope your July is off to a great start!
ReplyDeleteOh interesting point about the skort post-surgery. I will keep an eye out for the Jones New York ones.
