Hello Monday-Thanksgiving 2020

Happy Monday Besties! While Thanksgiving is going to look a little different in the Good Better Best household, I did want to link up with the lovely ladies at Hello Monday and share what our Thanksgiving will look like this year and some tips from Thanksgiving past. Pour a hot apple cider if you have it and join me for Thanksgiving 2020.

Thanksgiving 2020

While we typically gather as a family in Maryland, we are staying home this year. Not only to keep our family safe, but to keep the community safe. Our dinner this year will be the three of us and well Stormy, waiting for a bite to fall from the table.

We are picking up Thanksgiving dinner on Wednesday afternoon from the beautiful Mount Vernon Inn. Yes, that Mount Vernon as in George Washington's house. We live right the road from the mansion and it just seemed fitting to get dinner from there this year.

Running Daddy and I honestly didn't go to the Mount Vernon Inn for years because we just thought it was a typical tourist location mediocre restaurant. Well, I went there with my lacrosse moms a few years ago, and we were so wrong. Their food is Good and it is just a lovely place to be in our neighborhood.

Since we are not really big turkey fans, we chose the dinner package for two with the turkey breast and just added in an extra side of roasted potatoes. I am sure excited to see if the gluten carrot cake from the Inn is as Good as mine

If we have any leftovers I think I will try the turkey in the Chicken, Butternut Squash, Wild Rice and Cranberries bake. I think it would be a Good way to use up any leftovers.

Wine

Running Daddy always choose the wines for Thanksgiving dinner and this year will be no exception. I told Running Daddy that I wanted to really embrace Virginia this Thanksgiving and asked him to choose only Virginia wines. Luckily we have so many Good options. I can't wait to see what he selects.

For more options on choosing a Thanksgiving wine, check out from posts from 2016 here and  2017 here

Activities

The boys typically do a turkey trot in the morning but only Running Daddy is running this year. He is doing a race that is socially distant. I am not sure what else the day holds but I know that is how it is going to start out.

Table Setting

I am looking forward to using our china, crystal and silver, even if I am probably the only one that will be really into it. I am also thinking about dressing for dinner, because that is how I roll.

This is a little snapshot into our Thanksgiving for 2020. Please share with me in the comments how you are celebrating this different holiday year.

I just also want to take a moment to thank each and every person who visits this site. When you comment, it really makes my day and I do read every comment.

Happiest of Thanksgivings Besties! There is always something to be thankful for.

  4. For the past few years it's just been us and my parents at Thanksgiving and since we see them often anyway we're keeping our tradition the same this year.
