Seven years ago today, I hit publish on my first post and Good Better Best was born. I didn't really know what I was doing and I still have so much to learn about the blogging and social media, but this space has been such a Good creative outlet for me. Let's take a look at the history of Good Better Best and then stick around at the end of this post for a very fun give away.
I have always loved to cook and eat healthy and the concept of Good Better Best had been rolling around in my head for a couple of years. That concept of every recipe starting as Good--meaning healthy and then adding one element of organic, whole grain, garden grown or farmer's market purchased to make it Better, and then you could make it Best by adding multiple organic, whole grain, garden grown or farmer's market purchased ingredients is still part of my recipes and everyday cooking.
So in the early years, there were recipes, some wine reviews and a few cooking gadget recommendations. This was my very first post, my sausage and polenta which is a recipe that I still make about every ten days. Most of the photography was done on my old Blackberry and not very Good, it's still not my strong suit--case in point above. The main thing was that it was all food, and a little wine and a little gardening, but not really a lot of me.
I pulled back the curtain a little when I wrote a two part series for my friend who has a site Despite Lupus about my journey with lupus and a new treatment I was on. You can read the posts here and here . Those posts were hard for me to write because although I will talk to anyone who needs my help with an autoimmune disease, I went way outside my comfort zone when I wrote these pieces. I have to tell you, it's one of the Best things I could have done. I heard from people who needed my help, who needed someone to understand how they were feeling and it gave me the comfort to start to change the shape of this blog a little.
But this post is my most read post. It's called Spreading Joy and was written in January 2016. It's about Joy and how I wanted to start spreading Joy in everyday life. No fancy pictures, no food, no wine, just Joy. This post helped shape Good Better Best into what it is today a blog dedicated to finding the Best in Food. Wine, Joy. Life.
This year I made a commitment to write more, and I am writing a lot. I have joined in very fun link ups with really Good topics and have had sweet readers comment and email me personally. I have had the opportunity to work with some really Good brands and I have some exciting opportunities in the near future.
