I know we all feel the heaviness of the news of the flooding in central Texas and the impact on Camp Mystic. It is almost unimaginable the beautiful lives that have been lost over the weekend.
Honestly, I am disheartened by comments I have seen on all sides finger-pointing and people calling those they disagree with politically "horrible people" related to the flooding in Kerr County. Let's all take a breath. There will be plenty of time to examine what went wrong, but not now. Please not now, when there are over 100 souls that have lost their lives.
At times like this, when things seem so heavy and sad, I remember the quote from Mr. Rogers to "look for the helpers." Now is the time to look for the helpers and then help the helpers. Last night I made a donation to World Central Kitchen, which is my favorite charity to support in times of disaster. Chef Jose' Andres is always there and always seems to help those in need and help the helpers.
Let's take a beat. If you can help the helpers, please do. You can consider a charity like World Central Kitchen or one that is close to your heart. Don't forget to check to see if your employer will match your donation.
Feel free to leave your favorite charity that is helping with Kerr County and Camp Mystic in the comments section, especially if they are local organizations already on the ground. I want to know more about those helping and ways to look for hope.
Most importantly, if you pray, prayer is always free and truly needed at this time.
Such a wonderful cause- thank you for the reminder friend!
