July felt like a long but Good month. The weather has been blazing hot, think heat index of 109, but time with friends has really made this month fun. As this is the last Wednesday of July, I am joining in for What's Up Wednesday. I am linking up with Shay and Shaeffer to share a little food, fashion, favorite shows and all the July summer fun. I can't wait to share this month with you.
What We're Eating This Week
There's a lot going on this week, so dinner will not be on a regular schedule. That's ok because there are Good things happening for us all.
Monday-Running Daddy and I had a wonderful dinner out with our sweet friends at a local Italian restaurant that several people have mentioned over the last few years. It's located in an office park and it is nothing fancy but the food is amazing. They made me a great gluten-free chicken marsala. I adore places like this.
Tuesday-I am having drinks my niece and her friend that is moving back to New York. I have no idea what dinner will look like.
Wednesday-I have an acupuncture appointment so we will probably do something easy like pasta and meatballs or meatball subs when I get home.
Thursday-Running Daddy has his class so I will probably do something like taco bowls/tacos because they are easy and flexible.
Friday-Some type of take-out.
What I'm Reminiscing About
Definitely thinking back to the summer of 2024 when we were trying to get everything ready for Hockey Guy's first year in college. We were working so hard to make sure that he had everything he needed. We were also doing a lot of praying that everything with college hockey would work out.
What I'm Loving
The first item that I am loving is a beautiful eye shadow palette that I got at Ulta a few weeks ago, It has all of the perfect neutral shades that I love. I write down the combos that I like on an index card so that I can recreate again later. This shadow also has really Good staying power.
We also finally got a Nespresso Pop Machine and we love it. I was never super interested in one before but then we used it at a friend's house earlier this year and we really liked it.
It went on sale earlier this month when the retailers had all of the big sales and I combined the sale price with my Walmart points. The grey and white model are currently under $90. There are so many fun espresso and coffee pods you can get for this machine and we are coffee nerding out with it.
If you own a Nespresso machine, feel free to leave your favorite options in the comment section below.
What We've Been Up To
Over the last few weeks I have been helping get things ready for Hockey Guy to move back to college. There is a parent group text for the guys he is living with and we are trying to list who already has what. They definetly have plenty of can openers and I am not sure why I feel they need all of the chip clips I bought. Some of those chip clips may need to stay here.
Running Daddy and I went to see the movie F1 at the Imax at the Air and Space Museum. That theater has a four story screen so it was a total experience. While Brad Pitt is typically not my type, I am not going to lie to you Besties...61 year old, sober Brad Pitt looked pretty darn Good four stories high.
This is a fantastic movie whether you are into racing or not. Running Daddy has been to several F1 and Indy races so this movie was right up his alley. He was then super sweet and took me out to dinner after. It was a great night.
We got together with friends on the 4th of July and then these same friends hosted a shark party to kick off Shark Week. We were supposed to do an outdoor movie night of Jaws but the rain cancelled the movie.
I did make these shark brownies and I am pretty darn proud of them. I am not much of a baker and even less of a crafter, but I had a blast with these.
Other than that, the three of us are working really hard this summer and looking forward to some fun.
What I'm Dreading
I am totally dreading how sad our dog is going to be when his boy goes back to college. He is so happy to have him home and he is going to be sad and confused when he leaves again.
What I'm Working On
-All of the college move-in lists
-Multiple work projects that just got very interesting
-Fall trips
What I'm Excited About
This month I hit a milestone in Barre3. We are not going to talk about how long it took me to get there but I still made it. The Best part is that I hit this milestone at the class of a dear friend of mine.
What I'm Watching/Reading
I am still working my way through a book that I have been reading for a while. Hoping to read more this fall.
We have been watching a ton this summer and it's been really fun.
-We have all been watching Beach Hunters. We like a real estate show where they have a big budget.
-I am watching Housewives but feel like we are in a dry spell. I am not loving Orange County. I have zero, zip, zilch interest in the return of Gretchen or Tamara at any point.
-Two of us are into real crime right now and watched Amy Bradley is Missing and Her Last Broadcast.
-A different one is obsessed with The Summer I Turned Pretty with me. Team Conrad forever.
What I am Listening To
-The Billy Bush interview on Rob Lowe's podcast was really Good. As you may remember, he was cancelled back during the 2016 campaign and he discussed the last few years on this podcast. It was interesting to hear his take...although I am not 100% sure I believe parts of his story.
I am also loving the Better With Glasses podcast hosted by this sweet couple that cover The Summer I Turned Pretty. If you are obsessed with this series like I am, you should check it out.
I am also loving the official soundtrack from The Summer I Turned Pretty. The music from this show is some of the Best parts of this series.
What I am Wearing
I am mostly wearing tennis skirts and cute tees on the weekend. I am especially loving the Timeless Tees and Tanks from Banana Republic Factory.
What I'm Doing This Weekend
We are heading out for vacation this weekend. I am so looking forward to it. I have a million things to do but I am looking forward to it.
What I am Looking Forward to Next Month
I am looking forward to being in Hilton Head. It's one of my favorite places.
We also have a fun side trip planned on the way back from college drop-off. More on that later.
What Else is New
Tomorrow is Monthly Musings, the link-up party I co-host with Holly. The July topic is How We Summer. I hope you will join us tomorrow. If you are going to link-up the graphics are below.
