What's Up Wednesday June 2025

Oh June, you were a busy month but you were also a quick month. June was filled with work projects, celebrations and a resolution on a foot issue I have been having for years. As this is the last Wednesday of June, I am back for What's Up Wednesday. I am linking up with Shay and Shaeffer to share a little food, fashion, favorite shows and all the June fun. Let's dive in.

What We're Eating This Week

This is going to be a busy week for me as it is the last week of the quarter. I am going to be out for work on Tuesday and Thursday, so I will probably be bringing home event leftovers that may or may not serve as dinner. The boys can also make food on their own if I am home late. It won't be a traditional dinner schedule this week.

Monday- Homemade pizza. Don't be overly impressed, the gluten-free version was a Schar gluten-free pre-made crust and I also used the Pillsbury pizza crust. The Pillsbury crust is just a Good thing to have in the house at all times.

Tuesday-I had a work event and we had event left-overs at home. One of the perks of my job, especially if you are in college, is that I bring a lot of food home from events. It was literally an appetizer buffet.

Wednesday-Probably taco meatballs

Thursday-I have another work event. See Tuesday!

Friday-Some kind of take-out.

What I'm Reminiscing About

Over the last few weeks, I have been thinking about our school community and how blessed we have been over the last thirteen years to have these people in our lives. When we made a decision to pivot on schools and choose Catholic school, God brought the most amazing people into our lives. How lucky can you be to have people love your child and be blessed with friends who are like family?

I have also been thinking about this time last year. Last June was filled with graduation parties, Hockey Guy's graduation party and orientation. It was such an exciting time and now everything has fallen into place.

What I'm Loving

I feel like I am always struggling with my hair and styling products. I recently tried the Chi Magnified hairspray and it is a Good option for me so far. The hairspray I had been using was really drying my hair out and I don't seem to be having a challenge with this Chi spray.

What We've Been Up To

We celebrated our 20th anniversary this month. I would say that time has flown, but when I look back and think about the life Running Daddy and I have built I am amazed. It look a while for me to find the right person, but he is truly the Best person for me.

We also celebrated Father's Day with a really Good meal and a bottle of wine from our wine club. Running Daddy and I had swordfish and shrimp for Hockey Guy.

We also had our wine pickup this month at Paradise Springs and are already enjoying our selections.

What I'm Dreading

It rained forever around here and now it is blazing hot. Someone told me today that it is hotter in Virginia than it is in Texas. I completely dread going out to tackle the weeds that this lovely mix created in our yard.

What I'm Working On

In the political world, June is always a busy month. I have had a lot of events and campaign work to do. I also have another high-profile work  work event every June that is all consuming.

I am also working on getting used to our summer schedule. I am trying to keep track of Hockey Guy's work schedule and how we are all coming and going these days. This is a totally new vibe. It's all Good but a new vibe.

What I'm Excited About

I am not necessarily excited about anything right now, I am just trying to enjoy the summer and live in the moment.

What I'm Watching/Reading

When I went to get a pedicure on Saturday, I decided to not be on my phone and bring a book. How old school! I jumped back into Anna the biography of Anna Wintour.

I feel like I watched a lot of Good programs this month. I am usually behind on the shows but with Hockey Guy being home, I feel like I am more up to date.

We watched Call Her Alex about Alex Cooper who started Call Her Daddy. This is not for little ears but I am totally fascinated by people like Alex who can build something so quickly. For the record, I also believe her story about her experience at Boston University. Not that anyone cares what I think, but I believe her.

We also watched  Your Friends and Neighbors. Wow, is this Good. Definitely not for little ears or eyes, but this limited series is amazing. We were up until midnight last weekend watching the end. Jon Hamm is truly an amazing actor.

This week, I am also getting caught up on all of the post-verdict interviews from the Karen Read trial. Besties, this happened in my hometown. My actual hometown. So many thoughts on this but I cannot share here. However, I have eaten at the Waterfall Grille but long before the night in question.

What I'm Listening To

On the theme above, I have been listening to some Karen Read podcasts. I am about to finish up on some post-verdict episodes.

I just finished the Armchair Expert interview with Brad Pitt. We are looking forward to F1: The Movie this summer and this was a Good interview. I need to listen to this podcast more.

What I'm Wearing

This part of the post is brought to you by plantar fasciitis. The amount of time I have spent over the last two weeks thinking about shoes, looking at shoes, trying on shoes and buying shoes is mind boggling. I have been dealing with plantar fasciitis on and off for about ten years. I have always been able to get through it and my pain would go away but it was really hurting lately.

Instead of trying a whole bunch of things on my own, I decided to see an actual medical professional who happens to have an office five minutes from our house. It is ridiculous to be in pain. My feet were so bad that I had a cortisone shot in each foot about two weeks ago. Yes, it hurt as badly as you might think. I have been diligent about the exercises they gave me and I am getting some relief.

I also needed a little shoe rehab. Per my doctor I needed shoes to wear in the house that were super cushy. He first suggested the Oofos slides  but they had too much arch support for me. I think my feet are on the flatter side.

My doctor also mentioned that there was an Adidas option that was close and these ended up being a much Better option for me. I sized up to a 9 in the Adidas.

I also decided to get three pair of shoes with Better support to get me through the summer. I needed two for work and one for casual. I also realize that I have just become one of those people who puts photos of their feet on the internet by sharing all of this, but I am not doing it in a weird way.

I love these Donald Pliner wedges. They have Good support and a cushy sole. These are true to size for me in an 8.5.

I also discovered a new brand called Project Cloud and they have great shoes. Many of their shoes are inspired by other brands at a much lower price tag.

I got this pair for work and they are like a luxury brand but they have memory foam. They also have a ton of colors. This style was true to size for me.

I also bought these as a casual option and they are so comfortable. I love the brushed gold and they are also supposed to mold to your feet like the higher-priced brand. I had to go up a half size in these to a 9M to get the right fit.

If you want to try Project Cloud you can use this link

What I'm Doing This Weekend

First, I plan to get some rest this weekend. June has been a quick month but I have been working too hard. We then will be going to a milestone celebration for a family we know and we are so honored to be including in this very important day on Sunday.

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month

This sounds totally ridiculous but I am looking forward to the premiere of the final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty. I think I need to do a rewatch of season two because I feel like it has been so long.

Unpopular opinion, I am totally Team Bonrad!

What Else is New

The only thing that is new is our topics for Monthly Musings for June. Tomorrow Holly and I will be hosting our monthly link-up and we will be talking about summer vacations. Join us as a reader, writer or both!

I'll see you back here tomorrow!

    1. Hi Patty. It’s Laura not Anonymous. Anyhow. May I suggest Taos shoes. They are amazing, cute, stylish and will work for all of your events. I’m working part time at a cute little boutique in LA and everyone loves them. Good luck

  2. All your shoes look fabulous but I really hope your feet are feeling better soon. I tend to always have a book with me but I do feel like the only one in waiting rooms reading an actual book!
