What's Up Wednesday-March 2024

March, you will a little chilly but you ended up being a pretty Good month.  As this is the last Wednesday of March, I am linking up with Shay and Shaeffer for their monthly link-up What's Up Wednesday. This is a little food, a little fashion, and a whole lot of fun things we have been up to in March.

What We're Eating This Week

I am going to be gone for a few days this week checking in with my mom so I will not be home Wednesday and Thursday nights. The boys will be on their own for dinner those nights, but here is what I think I have planned for the other nights.

Monday-Parmesan roasted shrimp, salad, jasmine rice

Tuesday-Hockey Guy has a golf match so we will do something easy like burger night or meatball subs. It will depend on if he has something to eat on the way home.

Friday-It will be pizza takeout for Good Friday

What I'm Reminiscing About

With our end of season and what will be our last hockey banquet I have all of the feels regarding Hockey Guy's high school hockey career. I told people that I saved all of my tears that I didn't use at Senior Night for this hockey banquet. I am so proud of all seven seniors. All of them are different but they are all such Good kids. This hockey program was truly something special and I will forever be grateful for his coach who cares about these kids very deeply.

I am so excited to see where Hockey Guy goes from here, but I am forever grateful for this unique experience and the families who made this all so special.

What I'm Loving

Blue Mercury Lune + Aster Palette

I have been trying to find the right eye shadow in taupe and brown shades that are clean and do not make my eyes itch. Enter the Lune + Aster RealGlow palette from Blue Mercury. Bonus is that this also comes with a bronzer and highlighter. This has really Good staying power too when used with a primer.

I am also loving this season of life. Senior year can be so tough for all of these kids but I also love taking a break with Hockey Guy and binging a show. I really love watching all of these kids get ready to launch their lives and I cannot wait to see how they soar.

What We've Been Up To

We have been making some plans to continue to visit schools that Hockey Guy has been accepted to but has not visited yet. We are also waiting to hear from one more school.

Hockey Guy made the golf team and he is really loving getting to play and all of the experiences he is having.

We also had our hockey banquet and it was such a Good night. There is something truly special about this experience and we were so blessed to be part of this program.

What I'm Dreading

I almost always dread the same thing, I have yard clean up to do. I dread the tasks but if the weather is Good this weekend I am hoping to start cleaning out the garden beds and neaten things up. My spring flowers look so Good right now but they deserve a little tidying up to really thrive.

What I'm Working On

I am in the thick of campaign season at work, so I am super busy these days. We don't play in the presidential race but are very busy with the House, Senate and many state and local races.

I am working on some permission slips for a very cool golf trip during Easter break for Hockey Guy as well as some final details for admitted student college visits next month.

I am also working really hard to keep up my gratitude journaling and prayer lists in the morning. My focus is Better and my anxiety is less when I am doing this seven days a week. I seem to fall off on the weekends and I really shouldn't because it takes 5-10 minutes tops.

What I'm Excited About

I am truly excited about one of our admitted student visits next month. Hockey Guy's admission counselor at one of the schools has been so helpful. She designed a full itinerary for us because she knows we have a lot of ground to cover in a short period of time. I am also excited about visiting a part of the country that I have not been to before.

What I'm Watching/Reading

This month I finished up The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. I am still Team Sutton. As usual Kyle gave us nothing and was Kathy just there because Kyle needed a friend on the reunion set.

Or did she?

Hockey Guy and I also binged Apples Never Fall. This limited series on Peacock is pretty polarizing. People fall into the Love, Hate or Turn Off categories. Hockey Guy and I really liked it and this one kept us guessing all the way until the end.

If you watched this one or read the book tell me what you thought in the comments below.

I have also watched the end of The Bachelor. I am watching the finale as I am working on this post. I don't mind Bachelor Joey and both of these girls are super sweet. We are a little more Team Daisy in our house but I think it's not going to be her in the end.

I am a little behind on The Way Home and need to catch up on this week's episode. I definitely enjoyed season one Better and I am hoping we get some real answers on Jacob in the finale.

I feel like all of my shows are over or ending and I have been searching for a few new shows.

What I'm Listening To

Since this is Holy Week I am trying to really focus on the week with what I am consuming. I have been trying to listen to more faith focused podcasts and music during my commute. Annie F. Downs' That Sounds Fun podcast always makes me feel Good. Today I listened to Discernment and Decisions with Emily P. Freeman. It was a really Good episode and I learned so much about making decisions.

If you want to really focus on Holy Week, try listening to Christian music this week even if you only do it on Good Friday. I have been doing this for over a decade.

What I'm Wearing

Ok, I have been doing a lot of shopping lately. I am back in the office almost every day now and we are starting to host a lot of events in our new office space. Post-Covid I didn't really have to replace a lot of my work clothes but now I really needed to step things up.

I did a big haul at Quince. Quince is a leader in quite luxury and has some great quality. Most important for me right now is that they have skirts that are the correct length. I feel like dresses and skirts are so long on me even at the midi length. Quince has several dresses and skirts that hit just below the knee which is a perfect length for me.

Here is what I picked up:

100% Washable Silk Skirt

I wear a M in this skirt

I liked the black version of this skirt so much that I also bought it in the Celestial Blue. This skirt is cut on the bias so it is super slimming.

Ultra-Stretch Ponte Cap Sleeve Dress

I took a size M

My black sheath dress needed replacing so I bought this cap sleeve dress. This dress hit right at my knee and is beautifully made. The fabric is great and I know I am going to keep reaching for this one.

I took a M

My final Quince purchase is the Tencel Jersey Ruched Dress. I bought this in a medium in the sage color pictured above. This dress is under $50 and is so flattering.

I think I may be all set for spring shopping for a bit but I really feel like these are some quality pieces that will serve me well.

What I'm Doing This Weekend

Saturday I think I will try to do some yard work if the weather is Good. Sunday is Easter and our dear friend who has had a heck of a health journey over the last few months is being confirmed at our church Easter morning. We are so happy for him and excited to be part of his Mass on Sunday.

What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month

I am looking forward to our final college visits and Hockey Guy making his final decision for college.

April is also my birthday month and that is always fun!
