Hey Besties. I cannot believe that we are at the end of September. One thing that means...just a few more months of 2020! There have been some Good things in the month of September, but I know that Running Daddy and I are so glad the end of this month is here.
It's the last Wednesday of the month and I am linking up with Shay and Sheaffer for What's Up Wednesday. Settle in to find out what we have been up to this month.
What We're Eating This Week
Monday-Sausage, polenta and salad. I know this typically shows up here every month. This is basically because that is when it comes up in our dinner schedule.
Tuesday-The boys have a long hockey practice and I am going to a safe shopping party with wine on our patio after.
Wednesday-Black Bean and Corn Baked Chicken Tacos
Thursday-We have another hockey night so we typically have something easy on Thursday nights. If I have enough chicken left over from Wednesday, I will do sheet pan nachos. If I don't I will probably do chicken pesto pasta.
Friday-Take out
What I'm Reminiscing About
This is not really a political statement, but as some of you know, I have been part of the political process for my entire career. I have been part of campaigns that won. I have been campaigns that have lost. I have learned from each of them and made friends and memories along the way.
The one thing that I will tell you is that I have never seen a political climate like this, and I hate it. Please vote. Vote in person, vote in person early or vote absentee. Just please vote.
OGX Coconut Water Shampoo and Conditioner
I have color treated hair that needs smoothing but a lot of product weighs my hair down. This shampoo and conditioner by OGX does a great job of conditioning and smoothing and giving body at the same time. I have been using it for about a month and it is doing a really Good job. The Best part is that it is a clean beauty product at a Good price point.
Seventh Generation Wipes
Ok, this is a little yucky, but we had a little bit of an art problem the last few weeks. We would kill them with clean home product and then they would come back. I got the mint Seventh Generation wipes in my Grove order last week and used those to clean the counter. You know what...I think the ants hate the smell of the mint in the wipes and they are now gone. Green clean that keeps the critters away...yes please!
What We've Been Up To
Basically, we have been getting used to a new schedule that could change at any moment. Hockey Guy is physically in school 2-3 days per week and then virtually the other days. He is in a new school and is loving the entire experience. He does with that he could be in school 5 days a week with 100% of his friends, but we will take what we can get right now. Every week we need to look at the calendar to see what days he is on campus to make sure we get it right. School has done a really Good job with safety protocols and communications. Crossing fingers and saying prayers this all lasts.
We have also been getting used to a new hockey schedule with a new team. We have also had a meeting about high school hockey which will have a compressed schedule.
Along the way, there is also a ton of work right now for Running Daddy and me. I am smack in the middle of the campaign season which should be winding down soon. Last week was a little nutty buy I got through it. Running Daddy has the end of the fiscal year and that always adds to last minute requests.
Thankfully we have been really Good about getting things on the Cozi calendar and then I have also been working hard getting things into my planner to schedule my day.
What I'm Dreading
Ok, I am trying not to dread anything but in the back of my mind there is a little bit of nervousness that things will get cancelled. Worried about school going all virtual again, hockey being cancelled, and Halloween trick or treating being called off.
I want everyone to be safe and an end to this terrible pandemic, but I hope we can at least keep things as they are now.
What I'm Working On
As I mentioned above, I am working on making sure we don't miss anything on our schedule. We have been doing a Good job so far balancing school, virtual classes, hockey practice during the week, home work, hockey games, filming the games so I can see them because you can only have one parent there, work at home and adding in some safe fun.
I am also working on transitioning my fall wardrobe. It may be a little easier this year because I don't have any summer work styles to put away because I never brought them out.
I am also working on booking some fall and pre-holiday virtual events for my Stella & Dot business. Stella & Dot has some amazing items for fall and I just saw a sneak peak of some holiday styles and they are so cute!
I am also trying to help work on a little fall fund raiser for one of the hockey teams. It will be a tight turn around but I am hoping we can pull this together.
What I am Excited About
Honestly, I am just excited that it is fall. It's just that simple. Hockey Guy and I went for our first seasonal fall beverage last week after school and it was so Good.
What I'm Watching/Reading
We just wrapped up Real Housewives of New York and Beverly Hills. While I am really sad about my girl Dorinda leaving New York, she did have a tough season. I have high hopes she will take some time off and then be back. Oh and I was kind of obsessed with the pants below, even though they look like the afghan on the back of Roseanne's couch.
And are you ready for maybe the only Good news of 2020? Teddi Mellencamp is leaving Beverly Hills. She is boring, a pot stirrer and the what she did to Denise was flat out mean. The only thing that would make her interesting would have been getting her dad and Meg Ryan to make an appearance and she couldn't even do that.
I am also really enjoying the Fall Harvest movies on Hallmark. Some of my favorites include:
-Harvest Love
-Falling for Vermont
-Pumpkin Pie Wars
-Love, Of Course
I am currently reading Superficial by Andy Cohen. Because I apparently don't get enough Bravo in my life.
Is you have not listened to Rob Lowe's podcast Literally you should stop what you are doing and jump in. I was never much of a Rob Lowe fan in high school buy I love sober grown up Rob Lowe. He is a really Good story teller and has the Best guests.
Like a lot of us, I don't have many opportunities to dress up but I do still try to get dressed every day.
In my downtime I am loving these French terry joggers from Old Navy. I have these in the olive green and then a more oatmeal and mauve color.
I also am wearing these Bliss slippers from Bearpaw all day, every day.

I love how the purple color looks with the camo joggers.
For accessories I am also wearing the Dove wrap bracelet on repeat for early fall.
I am looking forward to seeing Hockey Guy play hockey this weekend even if it is by a Facebook private site. Two weeks ago, I did watch on replay about five times him safely level another kid on the ice. That is the upside of watching it via video.
I think we will also continue to do some yard work. Our new patio is in so now we just need to make the rest of the yard around it look Good.
I will also be working on some fall cooking to keep us fed with our crazy schedule lately.
What I'm Looking Forward to Next Month
Hockey Guy's confirmation is next month and I am really looking forward to seeing him take the next step in his faith. It is going to be a really Good night and he picked the Best sponsor for him. Nothing like a couple of hockey players who love Jesus.
I am also looking forward to decorating the house for fall and Halloween. We have plenty of time this year for decorating which we have not always had.
What Else is New
I think we have covered everything here. Thanks for hanging in there with me. I know I have not been posting as much as I typically do, but I have some matters that often need my time and attention without a lot of notice. I truly appreciate every page read and comment, so know you all are important to me.
I will hopefully be back on Friday for Friday Favorites!
I love the fall Hallmark movies and I will have to add that podcast to my list! Enjoy your day!
ReplyDeleteIt's such a Good podcast and he is such a great story teller. Thanks for stopping by to read and comment.
DeleteI'm not American so won't be voting but we take the kids with us when we go to vote so hopefully they will grow up knowing voting is REALLY important. It's our own version of "Raise them up right!"
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. Taking kids to vote is so important and it is really fun for them. Thanks for stopping by.
DeleteI am with you friend- trying to live in the present and enjoy every day- my girls are so so happy to be in school and involved in activities- we just all pray it lasts!
ReplyDeleteJust so trying to enjoy the little moments we have. I so pray it lasts. We all have to do our parts.
DeleteI am not usually into politics at all but this year it's just crazy nuts out there. That debate was something else... even if I only managed to listen to a bit of it while dozing here and there.
ReplyDeleteCheers to democracy!
