Summer definitely feels like it is coming to a close and fall is slowly creeping in around here. I am really embracing the fall this year and have so many things to look forward to this fall. At the same time, this is a very busy season for me at work with the upcoming elections which means I am pretty tired this week. I am working hard to embrace to fall fun to balance out the workweek.
I am happy to be back today for Friday Favorites sharing simple Joys that are getting me through the week. I will be linking up Erika and Andrea to share all of the things that made me happy this week.
1. Hello Pumpkin Mugs
This mug is one of those simple Joys. There is a TJ Maxx near my office and about every other week I take a break and walk around TJ Maxx during lunchtime just to clear my head. Does anyone else do things like this? I saw these mugs in August and didn't buy them. I also realized that some of our coffee mugs were getting a little faded and their service has probably come to an end after 18 or so years.
Last week I tossed two faded coffee mugs and bought two of these Rae Dunn Hello Pumpkin mugs because I kept thinking about them. I figured if I buy them now then I could use them through Thanksgiving. I always decorate for fall and not so much Halloween, so these will fit right in with the fall decor that is hopefully going up this weekend.
I am drinking my coffee with a little bit of pumpkin spice creamer in these mugs as I write this post.
2. The Perfect Couple
I know that typically I am usually late to watch the hit shows on Netflix but I am trying to get Better at that. I understand that this not a true life goal. Since I saw the previews, I have been waiting for the release of The Perfect Couple on Netflix, which is a limited series.
I thought that Running Daddy might like it so we waited until this Sunday night to start it. Wow, is all I can say! We are about halfway through it and hope to finish this weekend. We have all types of theories on what is going on here, but we don't have or want spoilers.
This series is set in Nantucket like all of Elin Hilderbrand's books and was mostly filmed on Cape Cod. The scenery is just gorgeous and I cannot take my eyes off of Nicole Kidman. She is amazing.
Is anyone else watching The Perfect Couple? Heads up, this is a very adult show.
3. Concierge Moms
I went to school in Washington, DC so I went to school in a very urban environment. One of the great things about your kid going to school in a college town is that there are these mom concierge services that can help you with things. I know that sounds really helicopter mom (which is so not me) but it is actually really genius.
The first day of classes coincided with us knowing for sure that Hockey Guy was rostered for the hockey team. A company called the Sippi moms will help with birthdays, rush gifts, and all kinds of fun things to surprise your students.
I reached out to them the night before classes started and said that I wanted something to celebrate hockey and the first day of classes. We landed on a cookie cake, because what is Better than a cookie cake?
For a very reasonable price, less than 24 hours later, they rolled up on Hockey Guy as he was loading his hockey bag into the car for practice and hand-delivered the cookie cake. They sent me a super cute photo of the delivery.
It's a genius business model and a heck of a lot of fun!
4. Chico's Everyday Cardigan
I have this cardigan in the blue above and black. It's basically the perfect cardigan and a really Good weight for this time of year. I wear it with pants and dresses for work and even jeans for casual occasions.
It's super duper on sale right now so you may want to grab a couple of these to transition to fall.
5. Mel Robbins Empty Nest Podcast
I really like Mel Robbins and listen to her podcast often. One of her recent episodes is on the next chapter of your life when your kids leaves home. I totally related to a lot of this and at times laughed out loud. When you get to the headboard part, think of me!
If you are in this season of your life, or it is coming up soon you will want to check out this episode. I have linked it here. This is episode #211 and is available wherever you get your podcasts.
I hope you have the Best weekend. Running Daddy and I are headed to see Kristin Chenoweth tonight and I cannot wait!
Oh my gosh Kristin Chenoweth? So jealous- yeah! Have a blast. I LOVED The Perfect Couple-flew through it- so good and remember loving the book too! Have a great weekend :)
ReplyDeleteI am loving the change of the season. That mug is so cute and perfect for this time of year.
ReplyDeleteI keep reading about The Perfect Couple, I think I need to give it a watch.
The Concierge Mom service sounds brilliant!
My husband and I watched The Perfect Couple and we enjoyed it a lot; I had read the book so I remembered a little bit about what was going to happen then once we were finished I did Google to see where the two storylines diverged since a few things seemed "not quite right" to me but I di really enjoy the show. I had never heard of concierge mom service before but that sounds like so much fun (both to use and to be one!).
