Hey there Besties. This week went a little sideways at times, including some technical issues. Hopefully, it is only that my power cord needs to be replaced, but I am going to also have to look into a new laptop soon. I got about half-way through my What's Up Wednesday the other night and then there was a black screen of death. I may post it Friday but who knows!
Today I am here with my very patient co-host Holly for our fun link-up, Monthly Musings. Even though Valentine's Day was a few weeks ago, we are keeping all the love going and sharing How We Show Love. If you are linking up with us, please link back to the both of us in your intro and also try to visit some of the other writers who join us. Let's dive into Monthly Musings.
1. What is your love language?
I think mine (and Running Daddy's) is acts of service. I love a cleaned-up kitchen in the morning or if you pick up wine. I am not going to lie, the weekend that Hockey Guy came home for Christmas I did a ton of baking...and I don't bake a lot.
2. Favorite love songs?
Our wedding song was "The Best is Yet to Come" by Tony Bennett. I also love "The Dance" by Garth Brooks, "Won't Last a Day Without You" by the Carpenters and "Home" by Michael Buble' (and Blake Shelton) and "Somewhere Down the Road" by Barry Manilow. I know I have very corny taste in music.
3. Flowers, chocolate or something else?
I am always a flowers girl. Running Daddy knows that I like to arrange my own flowers.
4. Favorite romantic/romcom movie?
We love the The Holiday. My favorite part is when Jack Black tells Kate Winslet he wrote something for her too and he "used only the Good notes."
We also love Love Actually. I can watch You've Got Mail every time it is on. My favorite Hallmark movie is Mistletoe Promise.
I am looking forward to seeing what others write here. I know we are missing movies.
5. Favorite childhood Valentine's Memory
When I was in kindergarten I broke my leg mid January and I was at home for a long time. I remember a neighbor brought home my Valentine's bag for me and it was really fun to open all of the school Valentine's.
6. How did you celebrate Valentine's Day?
We sent a big Valentine's box to Hockey Guy at college that a group of moms put together. I was out of town, so my sweet friend put his box together for me. It was massive and he was really excited.
We are pretty chill on Valentine's Day. We got Emmy Squared pizza and had wine. We always do small fun gifts and cards, nothing over the top. That's how we like it.
7. Any love or romance traditions?
We are very into cards on every holiday. Even our dog gives cards!
8. When do you feel most loved?
I am pretty simple about things. Running Daddy always makes me coffee in the morning and that makes me feel pretty loved.
9. Big night out or chill at home?
I am a total chill at home kind of gal!
10. Do you wear red/pink on Valentine's Day?
Yes, I wore a bright pink sweater with a pink gingham shirt and jeans.
Ok, it is now your turn. Add your link below or share your favorites in the comments below.
Your friends made your son a package and sent it to him? That is SO SWEET! I sent all the kids who don't live at home (that's me being dramatic since none of them do now :() small packages that they really appreciated. Your hubby sounds like a great guy :) Thanks for the fun questions and link up.
ReplyDeleteOne of my friends hosted a Valentine's Day care package making party and we all contributed fun items. My sweet friend knew I was out of town that weekend so she assembled Hockey Guys for me. I then sent it to him . It was pretty cool for all of these kids to get a BIG care package w a Valentine's signed by about 10 moms they knew.
DeleteWhat a sweet Valentine's memory!
ReplyDeleteThanks. It was really hard to be out of school and this helped me not feel forgotten.
DeleteWhile I didn't get a post written to participate today I did share some of my favorite Romcoms as a blog post 2 years or so ago (https://www.myslicesoflife.com/2023/01/my-favorite-romantic-comedy-movies.html); there are lots more suggestions in the comments too! That is my favorite genre of movies so I have a hard time picking just 1 or 2 favorites. I wish I knew how to arrange my own flowers so they looked nice; with all the creative and artistic skills I have flower arranging is not one of them.
ReplyDeleteJoann. I am going to check out that post to update our romcom watch list
DeleteI LOVE the Holiday as well. I loved the Jack Black and Kate Winslet story the most.
ReplyDeleteIt's the sweetest movie!
DeleteOh no! I hope everything can be fixed on your computer! Thanks for hosting today! How sweet of your friends to put a box together for your son. Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteHow sweet that your friends put together a valentines box for your son! That's pretty special. I love the song "Home" by Michael Buble - haven't thought of that one for awhile, but now I need to make sure it's on my playlist.
ReplyDeleteComputer troubles suck :( I hope they get sorted soon. I LOVE the Valentine's box to send away to your kid! What a fun idea! Also, I've never seen The Holiday. I should watch that sometime...
